CSU-ERFA Charitable Foundation Receives 11th Challenge Grant
CSU-ERFSA's sister organization, the CSU-ERFA Charitable Foundation, recently received its 11th $500 challenge grant from a member. All donations up to a total of $500 received by December 30, 2019 will be matched by the challenge grant donor.
The mission of the CSU-ERFA Charitable Foundation is to support the CSU-ERFSA Small Grants Program, which annually awards grants to support the research, scholarly, and artistic activities of CSU-ERFSA members. While CSU-ERFSA itself is a non-profit organization, it does not qualify for IRS 501(c)3 status because some of its activities involve lobbying on behalf of CSU retirees before government agencies, taking positions on ballot propositions affecting CSU retirees, etc. The CSU-ERFA Charitable Foundation thus was established to provide a means for CSU-ERFSA members and the general public to make tax-deductible donations to support the small grants program.
Before the start of each annual grant cycle, the executive board of the Foundation allocates a sum of money that can be awarded for grants. For the 2019 grant cycle a total of $7,000 has been allocated. Grant proposals are evaluated by the CSU-ERFSA Grant Awards Committee, which recommends awards to the CSU-ERFSA Executive Committee for approval. The CSU-ERFA Charitable foundation then issues checks for approved grants.
More information about the CSU-ERFSA small grant program can be found on our Grant Awards Program page.
